Hyper-v virtualisation networking hangs after reboot

I have been having this problem and I have been looking all over but I have seen nothing to explain why or how to work around this problem.
When creating a new virtual machine with a legacy network adapter connected to the internet the vm starts ad installs and the initial network setup works very well.
When the os is installed I can add mysql and transfer data no problem. However the second I reboot I loose networking. Statically writing setting does not seem to work nor does dhcp.
I am out of ideas on this one so someone please throw me a bone on this one!
