Ubuntu 14.04 on Windows 7 VirtualBox

I have a Windows 7 Pro system. It has an i7-4770K, 16GB RAM, 120GB SSD, 2TB 7200 RPM Data Drive and dual 23" monitors. I have VirtualBox 4.3.12 installed. I was trying to check out Linux distros before I make a decision. I can install LinuxMint 17 but get a debug message about the display drivers not existing but the program still runs without any other errors. I tried to install Ubuntu 14.04. It installs without any errors but when I restart after the installation, it has a screen setting of 640x480, too small to do anything with it. I have not found anyway to change the display. Is there a way? I searched this forum and didn't see anything. Did I miss something or is it just impossible to run it?
Thanks
Mel
