Using a 64 bit system running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS as a VMware host and Windows 8 Pro as the guest system. My problem is my Ubuntu host’s Internet connection is dropped when I run the Windows 8 guest in VMware. The Windows 8 host’s Internet connection works fine but I have lost my Ubuntu host’s Internet connection. Once I leave the Windows 8 guest system and VMware, my Ubuntu host Internet connection is restored. I have researched this problem on the web, but everyone seems to be having the reverse problem of not being able to connect to the Internet on the guest system in VMware.
This must be some sort of conflict problem but I cannot seem to find it. Both the Ubuntu host and the Windows 8 guest are using different static IP addresses, so this doesn’t appear to be the issue. I have switched and turned on and off various setting on both the host and the guest but nothing has worked. While I am fairly new to Linux, I consider myself an above average Windows user, but connection issues are not one of my strong points. Any help or suggestion will be greatly appreciated
