Recently did a fresh install of Ubuntu 14.04 and VMware Player 6.0.3 (running Windows XP). Everything worked fine for a couple of weeks, but now VMware Player crashes about a minute after opening the XP virtual machine. It happens every time.
I've installed all software updates prompted by the software updater, which have been large (~100 MB). Twice, the vmware player modules had to be re-compiled and linked with the kernel. I'm guessing that something got clobbered during one of the updates.
Any suggestions? I want to recover the XP documents I've modified since installing Player.
Edit: now Ubuntu hangs whenever I open a virtual machine.
