Connect virtual routers together

Hi All,

I am new as ubuntu user and I am trying to connect some routers together.

The point is that I am not able to interconnect the devices togther.

This is the output that I have:

Now my question is the following:

I have 4 routers and I want to connect them togheter

R1-R2 port 1/1
R1-R3 port 1/3
R2-R4 port 1/3
R3-R4 port 1/1

How can I associate the right router with the right ports?

R1 o far is showing that 4 ports are up even though the routers are not runnnig.
