apt-get update FAILED

hi,,
i have install ubuntu server in virtualbox,,
when i perform the command sudo apt-get update, it brings up somethings like :

w: Failed to fetch http://security.ubuntu.com
w: Failed to fetch http://za.archive.ubuntu.com

can some one help me,, I'm new in ubuntu and i want to learn..
