VirtualBox aborting on every machine

Running on 14.04, all of my VirtualBox drives abort on startup. On the Linux drives, the last message it gives is "Failed to access perfctr msr (MSR c0010007 is 0)". I googled this and for most people this never caused drives to be aborted. On Windows drives, it just hangs on the logo. These were all working a couple of a months ago. I have even purged VirtualBox and reinstalled to no effect.
