[ubuntu] Taskbar does not appear on new install as expected and indicated

The Ubuntu task bar is not present on my new install of Ubuntu.

I have created a VM with the Ubuntu 16.04 OS. I also have a Linux book to help me learn the system. However, the book starts with learning the task bar and there isn't one. I Google searched the issue and it recommended installing TINT2, but that did not work. I removed that from the Startup Apps and Google searched again and it was recommended to install the lxdesktop and I did which has not worked either. Kind of at a loss as to what to do. Any thoughts or suggestions?
