[ubuntu_mate] Need Help with Error Message In Trying to Install a Virtual Machine

I'm a new user to Ubuntu. I downloaded VirtualBox 5.1.14 to UbuntuMate 16.04 so that I can run a virtual install of Win10. I also downloaded the related extension set. When I start the virtual machine to install Win10, I get the following error message:

Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Win10.
The virtual machine 'Win10' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code 1 (0x1).
Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component: MachineWrap
Interface: IMachine {b2547866-a0a1-4391-8b86-6952d82efaa0}

On a sub-screen, the error code continues:

Kernel driver not installed (rc=-1908)
The VirtualBox Linux kernel driver (vboxdrv) is either not loaded or there is a permission problem with /dev/vboxdrv. Please reinstall the kernel module by executing
'/sbin/vboxconfig' as root.
where: suplibOsInit what: 3 VERR_VM_DRIVER_NOT_INSTALLED (-1908) - The support driver is not installed. On linux, open returned ENOENT.

So, then I open up the terminal, change the directory to '/', type in '/sbin/vboxconfig', and I get the following response:

jaydub@jaydub-System-Product-Name:~$ cd /
jaydub@jaydub-System-Product-Name:/$ /sbin/vboxconfig
rm: cannot remove '/sbin/rcvboxdrv': Permission denied
ln: failed to create symbolic link '/sbin/rcvboxdrv': File exists
/sbin/vboxconfig: 130: /sbin/vboxconfig: cannot create /lib/systemd/system/vboxdrv.service: Permission denied

In System, Administration, Users and Groups, Advanced Settings, User Privileges I see that "Use Virtual Box Virtualization Solution" is checked.

So, I'm really stumpted. Any ideas for a solution?
