[ubuntu] HUD won't show characters

I am running Ubuntu 12.10 under Windows 7 using Virtualbox 4.2.6.

When I am in the fullscreen mode and then bring up the HUD (by pressing the Windows Key). But then keystrokes characters do not show up in the search box. If I close the searchbox and bring it up again the characters are there, but they do now show up when I am typing.

I have tried reinstalling the VirtualBox Tools.
