In this the future of KVM on Ubuntu?

I'm sort of concerned that things are going to get messy. I'm not sure what Snaps direction on VM's means and where this is going ...or if my concerns are really valid or not.

I am happily running KVM as native. And not on layers over something else. I thought that Mulitpass might be a way to deploy VM's... Until I read this tutorial that said that the correct and recommended way to install Multipass was as a Snap, through the Snap Store. They implied that was the only way. That is what was said...

That tutorial is saying that Multipass is installed via a Snap on the Snap Store... for Server, and goes into how this is good for production and commercial servers.. It omits and they avoid talking about any other method. So I asked "Why the push for Snaps". That got into marketing myths and misconceptions. Mulitipass can be installed on Server from source, without having to involve Snap. What it quickly got into was a discussion of Snaps, the wonders and infallible security of squashfs and containers... I had to say something about the reality beyond the hype.

I consider myself somewhat open minded, but when people start spitting out buzzwords, without knowing what it really means... and say it is "the way, and only way", then I have to mention the other perspectives, and what the data actually means., and what real world people think. There are support challenges that we have helped with here in this Forum concerning Snaps.

What do you think? I would like to hear how you all interpret that.
