New to Ubuntu; need help with auto reconnect of windows share not working

I'm very new to ubuntu and loving it so far but I'm learning a lot each day I research something new with Ubuntu.
I'm stuck right now and need a gentle hand of guidance so please be patient as I'm learning.
I've currently installed Ubuntu 20.04 LTS from scratch on a VMWare virtual machine. My background was IT support so I'm pretty fluent in everything Windows and general networking, just not much at all in Linux world.
I have two shares on my Windows system I want to access and auto-reconnect to each time I launch Ubuntu.
I've set up the shares in Ubuntu's File manager and they work fine, reading/writing to my Windows shares except, when I log out of Ubuntu, I have to click on each share to reconnect for that session (until I log out again).
I have found some websites that detail how to setup shares and reconnect by editing the fstab file but I'm not quite there in confidence to do that (yet).
I thought I found an easier way by downloading/installing Gigolo (v. 0.52) but, even after following instructions to auto reconnect, it seems that isn't working after a login/logout cycle.
Would the best method be to edit the fstab file or use a 3rd party app like gigolo to make a permanent reconnect my windows shares?
I've searched different websites for an answer or for novice details on editing the fstab file but if someone knows of a good, easy to follow resource, please post it.
Again, my Windows/networking and general PC experience is very good and much of it translates over to me getting Ubuntu set up and understanding differences from the Windows world but there are some minor details that hang me up sometimes :)
