[SOLVED] kinetic under qemu no network

I am trying to get an arm linux running under qemu on my x86 host following the instructions in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM64/QEMU.
This works, except that I appear to get no network connection. Both my host and my guest are Ubuntu 22.10 (kinetic). What could I be doing wrong?

The following command is used to start qemu:
Code:

sudo qemu-system-aarch64 -m 1024 -cpu cortex-a57 -M virt -nographic -pflash /usr/share/AAVMF/AAVMF_CODE.fd -pflash flash1.img -drive if=none,file=kinetic-server-cloudimg-arm64.img,id=hd0 -drive file=user-data.img,format=raw  -device virtio-blk-device,drive=hd0 -netdev type=tap,id=net0 -device virtio-net-device,netdev=net0,mac=00:16:3e:5a:fa:54
This command starts running with an error W: /etc/qemu-ifup: no bridge for guest interface found.

sudo sh /etc/qemu-ifup tap0

Code:

$ sudo sh /etc/qemu-ifup tap0
W: /etc/qemu-ifup: no bridge for guest interface found

Code:

$ ifconfig
