[ubuntu] Updated to proprietary graphics driver, now Virtualbox kicks me to login

Hello,

I'm having trouble with my Virtualbox. I updated my Nvidia drivers, and some programs -- most notably Virtualbox -- have been kicking me. That is to say, I start the program and it boots me to the login screen at the first glance. With Virtualbox, I can't even get into the preferences, much less start a virtual machine. Thus, I have no logs to provide. If there is a way for me to help you help me, please share.

I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, etc. I'm not exactly a pro, so my options are limited. I have scoured the Internets in search for answers, and as a result I'm ready to throw myself out a window in frustration.

Any assistance is appreciated.
