[ubuntu] Ubuntu 8.04 LTS sudden problems in VMWare Server 2 environment

Hello,

I am running Ubuntu 8.04 LTS on a VMWare Server 2 (Windows 2008 Server is the host's OS), and in the last few days I noticed lengthy Kernel messages. What triggered me to look at the Kernel messages was that the vServer was unreachable for lengthy periods of times while the ISP assured me that no network problems caused this.

I am running this Kernel

To be honest, a lot doesn't make any sense but it sounds like the Ubuntu vServer has hardware or driver issues.

Can you give me some pointers, suggestions in which direction to dig further? Do you suggest an upgrade to Ubuntu 10.04 LTS?
