I have tried numerous versions of Ubuntu 12.04 and 13.04 and the Unity launcher and Toolbars do not work and renders the install useless. See Screenprints:

This is on my laptop MSI a6200 configuration:
My HD is actually 320GB, I have Ubuntu 12.04 on a partition dual boot. Ubuntu in that install works perfectly.
I have also tried Xubuntu 13.04, it seemed to install properly, but it lags so bad that it is not useable.
For the VMware settings, I am using 2GB ram and 1 core, 20GB in 1 file. Version 6.0.0 build-1295980
Does anyone know why this is not working properly?
