I have a virtual machine Ubuntu 12.04 on VMWare Player.
I am looking for a windows manager with tiling feature. Initially I tried to enable the ubuntu 3d, to take advantage of compiz (which was my preference), but I had no luck even with updated vmware tools and player enabled 3d acceleration. For what I read, it seems sort of a pain to get ubuntu 3d working on a VM and mostly dependent on the hardware. My host machine is Windows7, cpu i7 920, gpu radeon 5800.
My simple questions are the following in order to have a basic tiling capability with vmware player:
1) Did anyone find a good alternative to have a windows manager with some basic tiling features using ubuntu 2d
2) Was anyone able to enable ubuntu 3d with vmplayer 6.0 and similar host hardware.
