[64 bit] 12.10 + btrfs under VMware

Forum Members,

A friend of mine is looking at installing Ubuntu Desktop 12.10 and wants to try out btrfs whilst installing under VMware Workstation 9 environment.

Can anyone comment on any or all of the following?

a) If installing under btrfs what is the best configuration regarding a /boot swap and root area if booted within a virtual environment such as VMware?

b) Taking btrfs into consideration is there any utility in using different vmdk files for multiple virtual drives?

c) What challenges will exist with respect to compacting and shrinking such vmdk DASDs?

Other caveats I have entirely overlooked?
